2017 in review

2017 was a bit of a roller coaster ride, and not just during our Disney trip!

The year started well enough, most of our friends were at least stabilized after the floods, even if still displaced. We attended the Romany Ball, and hosted birthdays. We celebrated St. Patrick's Day, and got the garden in full swing.

Disney was a blast this summer, with Josh and Zoe adding even more fun to our Disney adventure. In all of our  Disney trips, this was our first visit to Animal Kingdom. We rode Expedition Everest 6 times! 7 for the kids. The rest of the summer flew by, with more beach trips, driver's ed, and friends visiting.

Then just when we were no longer worrying about Jordan's reaction to medicines and a pseudo-tumor last year, Megan started displaying similar symptoms on completely different medications. We at least knew what to do this time, and despite going through a spinal tap, medicines to get rid of the other medicines, etc., Megan still pulled off two summer classes.

Fall brought a new school for Jordan, at least  for a while. She ended up getting sick with a stomach infection and missed so many days of school that we have had to take her out of traditional school. She is finally well, after a specialist finally diagnosed the issue. We have now begun a new adventure in online homeschooling, and even though she has to make up the entire year, she’s kicking butt and making grades! (And getting to sleep until 10 every morning!) Megan is all well, and now in her final year at UL, set to graduate in Math next December. She will likely teach, at least for a while, so if anyone hears of a mid-semester math teacher opening in Baton Rouge, let us know!

Football games and more travels filled up our weekends. A once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse made headlines, and oddly enough, Jordan getting her braces off did not. Wynne's high school reunion was a lot of fun, and thankfully, did not make headlines either! Then fall, turned into winter which turned into snow (on Megan's birthday, no less)!  Winter is always the Most Wonderful Time of the Year with bonfires and parties and family.

Charlie and Wynne still work at LTPA and Graham Group, respectively, and they still get to work together a good bit. And, most of that work surrounds promoting tourism in Louisiana, so tell your friends to come visit!

Thanks to all those who prayed for our friends’ son, Mitch. He will be heading home from St. Jude soon!  Also, y’all please continue to pray for Wynne’s nephew, Malcolm, who is also receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at St. Jude. The prognosis is good, but keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I had such high hopes beginning 2017. May 2018 be more sleigh ride than roller coaster ride!
